Argentina Week 1

Day 1

After back and forth, managed to reschedule my flight to leave Seattle on the 28th of Dec.

Centurion at SeaTac

Layoff at Miami international. The American Airlines’ flagship lounge was a bit disappointing

Granted it was late, but still the lounge didn’t keep things in stock and closed because the last flight leaves.

Can’t complain 60k Alaska points get you
Food is definitely, how do I say. domestic First at best? Maybe I was too spoiled by Japanese Airlines or so

Day 2

Landing!

Surprised to see ICBC – A Chinese bank “invading” South America

Managed to check in early. Didn’t keep myself idle but headed out for my first city walking tour in a blazing sun.

Wildest street in LaTam?

Later, I’ve decided to head to the riverfront for some happy hours. Argentinians eat super late so it’s not uncommon to see Happy Hours from 6-9pm. Perfect for me indeed, I am not a late person.

Oracle office right by the prime location
First beer in Argentina!

Amazingly, two beers cost less than a single empanada.

Day 3

Another walking tour

If we our clock was made differently

While it was good to see the European side of the Argentina, I was also not too lean on taking history lessons during my travel. Needed to check a box however.

Later, I did a food tour – was given or a taken highlight of my trip

The Choipan was seriously good
The kentucky pizza was a bit, shall we say, too American?

The steak was the highlight

Great value for what was paid. $90.72

Day 4

Last day last tour!

Lunch!

Last day of the year! Getting ready for new year eve celebration!

Day 5

On my way to Mendoza!

New Year everything shut down, and it was also Siesta time so nothing opened until late into the night

Day 6

Chill day just went to the market

And made my own little steak lunch. Mendoza has some very nice clean market (sorry my picture quality was low)

Later there was protest outside of my hostal

Day 7

Finally doing a wine tour.

A belgium, French and Argentinian (who lived in Australia before – so fluent in English)

Definitely the own day that I felt I was doing some backpacking. Unfortunately, the further South I go in the summer the more touristy vibe. It’s both the high season for the North American / European travellers as well as Summer time for Argentinians (unlike other Latin Americans, they do love to travel to their own country a lot!) With unfavorable exchange rates thus you won’t find typical backpackers

Last night’s meander before heading towards Patagonia
